In the Winter of 2023, I was invited by The Church Sag Harbor as a Community Artist-in-Residence. Every morning I collected natural elements from the grounds and walks along nearby Long Beach. Seaweed, wildflowers, pine needles and seeds were integrated into my Doppelgänger Series, created on The Church’s French tool press. These are fused with ink layers into which I imprinted my own DNA through bodily-made markings such as fingerprints and hair cuttings. How are our cellular boundaries made porous to our environment? With these traces of human and plant life I am exploring our interconnectedness in an eco-embrace.
